Bendel Insurance FC

Bendel Insurance Football Club, commonly known as Bendel Insurance FC, is a Nigerian professional football club based in Benin City, Edo State. Established in 1972, the club has a rich history and is one of the country’s oldest and most storied football teams.

History and Achievements

Bendel Insurance FC was originally formed as a result of the merger between the Vipers of Benin and the Western Rovers. The club quickly made its mark in Nigerian football, becoming known for its competitive spirit and producing several talented players who have represented Nigeria at various levels.

The club has had notable successes domestically, winning the Nigerian Premier League title twice in 1973 and 1979. They also clinched the Nigerian FA Cup (now known as the Aiteo Cup) four times, in 1972, 1978, and 1980 and 2023, establishing themselves as a powerhouse in Nigerian football during the 1970s and 1980s.
